Développement
Le développement de The King of Fighters XV est officiellement annoncé lors de l'EVO 2019[1],[2]. Le jeu est à l'origine prévu pour une sortie au cours de l'année 2020[3],[4], mais le producteur du jeu Yasuyuki Oda (en) et le réalisateur Eisuke Ogura, annoncent finalement que le jeu est reporté à 2021, avec plus de contenu à explorer.
Ils présentent en décembre 2020 le logo du jeu, une date pour un trailer de gameplay ainsi que des dessins de trois personnages révélant leur présence parmi la liste des combattants : Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru Nikaido et Shun'ei[5]. Le trailer officiel présente d'autres personnages au casting : K', Mai Shiranui et Leona Heidern et finit avec une date prévue pour 2021[6],[7].
Finalement, en août 2021, il est annoncé que le jeu est repoussé au 17 février 2022[8],[9].

The King of Fighters XV[lower-alpha 1], also called KOF XV, is a fighting game developed by SNK. It was released on February 17, 2022, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This is also the first game in The King of Fighters series created using Unreal Engine 4, and the first to implement GGPO rollback networking. Taking place after the events of The King of Fighters XIV, the narrative primarily revolves around two fighters with multiverse-related supernatural powers, Shun'ei and Isla, among other returning heroes facing revived threats. King of Fighters XV generally received praise for its character roster, team-based gameplay, and smooth online performance, but criticism for its story mode, complex tutorials, and mechanics.
