Système de jeu
Metal Slug est un jeu de plate-forme en 2D : le joueur avance de gauche à droite dans des niveaux explosifs, foisonnants de tirs ennemis. Le joueur doit tirer en rafale sur ces ennemies et se frayer un chemin dans ces niveaux.
La version Wii du jeu propose plusieurs gameplays différents : uniquement avec la Wiimote, avec la Wiimote et un Nunchuck, avec le pad Wii ou encore avec le pad GameCube.

Metal Slug Anthology, in Japan als Metal Slug Complete bekannt, ist eine Videospielsammlung, die vom Terminal Reality entwickelt und von SNK veröffentlicht wurde. Das Spiel erschien 2006 für die Nintendo Wii. 2007 erschien es für PlayStation 2, Playstation Portable und 2009 auch für den Microsoft Windows. Am 1. Metal Slug Anthology (called Metal Slug Complete (メタルスラッグコンプリート) in Japan) is a video game compilation for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PC and the Wii. The Wii version boasts different controller configurations, most taking advantage of the Wii Remote, with the Japanese version supporting the Classic Controller and all regional variants supporting the GameCube controller.
