Le 4 octobre 2005, Warner Bros. a annoncé avoir un projet de film dans l'univers du jeu[3].

Condemned: Criminal Origins ist ein Videospiel aus den Genres Survival Horror und Action für die Plattformen Windows und Xbox 360, welches von dem Studio Monolith Productions entwickelt und von Sega am 15. November 2005 in den USA für die Xbox 360 veröffentlicht wurde. Die Windows-Version folgte am 11. April 2006. In Deutschland wurde das Spiel am 8. Februar 2008 vom Amtsgericht München wegen unmenschlicher und grausamer Gewaltdarstellung sowie der Glorifizierung von Selbstjustiz und Gewaltanwendung nach § 131 StGB bundesweit beschlagnahmt, obwohl die Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien mit der vorherigen Indizierung im April 2006 auf Listenteil A keinen strafbaren Inhalt sah.[1][2] Es unterliegt somit einem Verbreitungsverbot und darf in Deutschland nicht mehr verkauft werden.

It was released worldwide in 2005 on the Xbox 360, with a Microsoft Windows version released in 2006. With the developer citing films such as The Silence of the Lambs, Seven and Saw as inspiration, the game places an emphasis on melee combat and puzzle solving, including searching for fingerprints and gathering evidence.

Sobre el box oficial cuando salió el juego en el 2005 no tuvo muchas ventas; solo 100,000 unidades vendidas en los EE. UU. y con un ranking de 5.9/10, en el 2006 subió de ranking con la puntuación de un 6.2/10, vendiendo 300,000 unidades en los EE. UU 850,000 unidades y en EUR. 480,000 unidades vendidas y en todo lo que resta del mundo ha vendido +600,000 unidades, en total ha vendido +2.57 millones de unidades (hasta el 10 de noviembre), con un ranking de 8.7/10 y en E3 GAMES 8.9/10 También este videojuego ganó en las categoría de "Mejor Suspenso" y "Mejor Videojuego De Terror" en los 1UP Won.
