World Cricket Championship (WCC) is a series of 3D cricket mobile games developed by Nextwave Multimedia. WCC is the first game of the WCC franchise which was launched and released in 2011. The updated versions WCC2, WCC Rivals and WCC3 were also released under the WCC franchise. "WCC" claims to be the largest mobile-based cricket simulation with around 10.7 million monthly users for about 45 minutes per day.[1][2] It has reported an average of over 2.1 million daily active users and is one of the most downloaded cricket game franchises in the world.[3]

By 2016, WCC2 was released on the Microsoft Store for Windows.
The first game in the World Cricket Championship franchise, WCC was officially released in 2011.
WCC2 was officially released in 2015 and is a sequel to WCC.[4] This game has different commentary options in Hindi and English. Being an advanced version of WCC, WCC 2 had player customization where users could customize player names, jersey numbers, faces, etc. They could even change the squads of both the playing and the opposition teams as well. The game features about 18 international teams, 42 cricket stadiums, including all three formats of cricket (Test, ODI and T20I). The game features 11 different tournaments including 50 over World Cup, National Premier League (based on the Indian Premier League), ODI bilateral series, World T20 Cup, Asian Cup, Ashes-To-Ashes, and 2 over blitz tournaments. WCC2 also consists of live cricket features such as Hot events featuring ongoing bilateral cricket series and social modules such as Gangs of Cricket, World Tour and Challenge a Friend. WCC 2 also features 3 multiplayer formats such as offline multiplayer, online multiplayer and batting multiplayer. The game was rated amongst the top 10 games among monthly active users for 3 successive years from 2016 to 2018 since its launch. In March 2020, WCC2 was partnered with Mobile Premier League (MPL), one of India's leading mobile gaming platforms.[5] WCC2 was listed as Google's Best of Games in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and was also listed as Apple's Best of Games in 2016, 2017 and 2018.[6]
In August 2020, WCC2 won in the people's choice gaming category in the Digital India Atmanirbhar(self dependent) Bharat[7] Innovation Challenge with 6,607 votes, counting to 74% of total votes in the category.[8][9]
WCC3 is the fourth instalment of the World Cricket Championship franchise. The game was announced in November 2019 and the beta version was made available in May 2020. The game was officially launched in September 2020. It includes professional commentary from various former cricketers in seven languages, Matthew Hayden and Isa Guha for English, Aakash Chopra and Anjum Chopra for Hindi, Venkatapathy Raju for Telugu, Deep Dasgupta for Bengali, Vijay Bharadwaj for Kannada, Abhinav Mukund for Tamil, Tariq Saeed for Urdu.[10] The game also won Google Play Store's Best of 2020 award in the users' choice category.[11]
Apart from the features provided in WCC2, WCC3 also included a new Career Mode which was later also added to WCC2, Skill upgrade, and custom squad creation under any other team's name, hiring coaches and nice features
WCC Rivals was launched in 2019 as the third game in the WCC franchise after WCC and WCC2. It is the first full featured real-time multiplayer cricket game on mobile.[12] On 6 February 2020, WCC Rivals introduced 2v2 multiplayer, which eventually became the first ever mobile game to feature 2v2 real-time cricket multiplayer.[13] The game was also the first to introduce the e-sports ready-in game feature and the first to have a spectator/caster's mode.
